Robin Gow Teen/Adult Writing Workshop
Saturday, June. 15, 2024 | 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

On Saturday, June 15th, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Reading District Libraries will host “Celebrating Our Stories” workshop at the Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing, from 1 PM till 3 PM.
The free workshop, designed for tweens, teens and adults, will be led by author Robin Gow, and will focus on embracing ourselves as storytellers, whether we’ve been writing for years or are just getting started. The first part of the workshop will include a “flashfiction/non-fiction” session. Participants are asked to bring something to write with, whether it’s a notebook, smartphone or laptop. Registration is not required.
During the second half of the workshop Gow will do a reading from their books, Dear Mothman and Gooseberry. They will talk about their experience writing LGBTQIA2+ books, and will host a question and answer session.
The author of several books of poetry and Young Adult (YA) and Middle-Grade books, Gow is passionate about queer and disability justice. He has trained over 3,000 people on LGBTQIA2+ Inclusion and Equity and Neurodiversity/Disability Justice topics, and has presented at national conferences and to organizations including the Philly Trans Wellness Conference, Bethlehem School District, Rutgers University and Allentown City Hall. He serves on the boards of directors of Eastern PA Trans Equity Project and Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living, and is a founding organizer of Queer & Trans Lehigh Valley. Gow, who lives in Allentown, received an MFA from Adelphia University.
