Get Your Garden Ready!

Friday, March. 6, 2026 |   12:00 - 1:30 p.m.

Have you always wanted to create a flower garden, or grow your own vegetables, but don’t know how or where to start? As winter starts to wind down and the days get a bit longer, it’s time to start thinking about making 2026 the year you make a garden!

Beginning Friday, February 20th, and continuing until March 6th, come to the Wyomissing Public Library and learn how to start a garden. Veteran gardeners David Walker and Dave Sanford will help you get started. Size does not matter; if you have a postage stamp-sized space, a balcony, or a huge backyard, they will help you figure out how to prepare the soil, whether you want to grow flowers, vegetables, or a combination, or just have an herb garden. Would you like to have an organic garden, raised beds, or do you only have room to grow something in a big pot?

This free series is scheduled for Fridays, Feb. 20th and 27th, and March 6th at 12 Noon at the library, 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing. The focus of the 90-minute program is on beginner gardeners with little or no experience. David Walker has been growing vegetables in his backyard for more than 30 years. Dave Sanford, PhD, is retired from Penn State where he taught courses in horticulture, plant propagation, and home gardening, among other related subjects.
