For the third consecutive year, the Fightin Phils are generously helping us raise funds for our Children's Programming Budget, allowing us to purchase craft supplies and hire quality guests and speakers for children's programs. Click on the picture below for details.
The library will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2013.
Summer Hours began on June 22nd. On Saturdays, the library is open from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m.
eBooks Have Arrived!
We're thrilled to announce eBooks are available to patrons for download. The selection of titles is small, but it will continue to grow over time. The eBook industry has made it difficult for public libraries to access eBooks due to their price tag of about $85 for a new release title. Regardless, we'll do our best to bring you additional titles.
More details about this service will be available on our website by July 3. For patrons with 3 & 4 digit library card numbers, please call or email our Director for instructions on how to login OR stop by the library to pick up your new library card (must present old card for free replacement).
The library always bustling during the summer months. Below are snapshots of the fun we've been having during our Summer Reading Program.
The Franklin Institute visited WPL in June to present their traveling science show, "Silly Shadows, Crazy Colors."
Mimicking Miss Sara from the Franklin Institute in a
song about shadows.
Using laptops, computer programming skills, and Legos, children created dancing robot birds with the help of our friends from Snapology in Wyomissing.
The kiddos are doing their best to keep the very insistent pigeon from driving the bus. Thank you to the Yocum Institute for another wonderful performance! Many thanks to the Friends of Berks County Libraries for sponsoring the play, "Naked Mole Rat & Mo." The play is based on the popular stories by children's author Mo Willems.
